| Roughrigg
reservoir is run as an unemployed and workingman's club
since 1995 to benefit of anglers who want to catch premium
grade fish at minimal cost. |
| The
organization is run by a committee of four dedicated men,
whose philosophy is simple, stock the loch with fully
finned Triploid Rainbows, " No Chernobyl trout here"
, along with these shimmering beauties, Cobalt Blues
& Brown trout are also stocked. |
| To
support the committee on the loch a dedicated crew of
Bailiffs , headed up by head Bailiff , and women's club
champion. |
| Fishing
methods are kept simple, natural bait, power bait, spinning
and fly fishing are all legitimate. No ground baiting,
sweet corn or Ultrabite is permitted..(Dam Back Strictly
Fly Only) |
| Facilities
are minimal, prices are extremely low, park in the free
car park and report to the green container, cheery faces
, and tips for the day are normally available at no cost,
hot drinks can be provided. Toilet facilities are available. |

natural , quality , fishing's what you really want , 20
min. from Glasgow at a cost of £8.00
for a day ticket.

NO Floatation Vest available - Anyone wishing to use
a boat
please bring their own.
Float tubes are allowed
PLEASE NOTE
Any person using a boat for hire or are using their
own float tube on Roughrigg, do so at their own risk.

Angling Club, Do not accept liabilty or responsibility
for any person using a boat or float tube. Before
entering the water please report to the container
and sign a responsibility disclaimer form.
People
on the water ie (boat or float tube) should show common
courtesy to other people fishing from the bank or
dam wall. They have the right of way, assuming they
are fishing the bank before the floater or boater
in the area.

How the Loch is Fishing
|
Roughrigg
resrvoir has been fishing excellent in recent weeks
there have been large catches of rainbow trout of
3lb plus and some nice blue rainbows in the class
of fish.
Coatbridge angler David Hanlon a club member had a
nice 51/2 lb wild brown trout caught on a green drake
mayfly imitation on the dam wall using a floating
line and a 4lb nylon leader the fish was returned
to the loch .
Bait fishing using power bait and worm has been good
in the mornings for 3 to 4 hours then later in the
evening the anglers who are using sedge patterns and
buzzers have been catching some nice fish.
The
members club champonship has also been hotting up
now that we are past the half way stage alistair brown
is leading the way from 2nd placed eddie devlin .
The loch is stocked weekly with 700lb of class 1 rainbow
trout.
